W&F Camera Strap Giveaway

It’s been a loooong time since I have put something up here, and I KNOW I owe you folks some new DIYs. I’ve got some in progress and I’ll update soon, but I hope you’ll forgive me with a little giveaway in the meantime.

We finished the new camera neck strap shortly after the holidays and have been enjoying its release, but figured it deserves a proper introduction. It’s constructed with some amazingly beautiful oiled latigo leather, and created with the vintage style that I love, but with sturdy modern details. Nylon attach points hold heavy cameras with great security. It’s a good compromise when you’re carrying your favorite baby, but still want that timeless styling. Hardware was kept to a minimum with a few hand-hammered copper rivets and a simple buckle for some adjustment.

Well, how do you enter to win one? If you’re like me… You’ve got a favorite camera(s) that might look great with one of these on it. Comment below with the camera you’d use it on, and I’ll randomly pick THREE folks to receive one. You’ll get your choice of tan or brown and free shipping too, anywhere in the world. Please only comment once though… Even if you have about 5+ favorite cameras like I do! I’ll draw winners Feb 28 and will announce shortly after.

Update Mar 01 – Using a random number generator, we’ve selected the winners! Numbers 30, 94 and 182. Congrats, Joe, Heather and Bob – I’ll be sending out emails to you shortly!

My current fave camera is the great new retro styled Olympus OM-D E-M5

    • Mary says:

What a stunning camera strap! Congratulations on a job well done. I would love to have one to put on my Olympus Pen FT, a lovely 35mm half-frame SLR and the pinnacle of late 60′s camera design. I drag it about with me everywhere I go and never seem to tire of composing diptychs with it. Currently it’s wearing one of those thin, brown leather straps on it, which isn’t really enough to support its weight and cuts into my neck after a few hours. Your strap would keep me happily shooting all day long.

  2. Rena tom says:

My beloved OM-2n or the Yashica Mat TLR. would look great with either :)

  3. From one maker to another: great design, great craft, and great follow through. Happy to see such a push for craftsmanship in a throwaway society. I hope Milwaukee can follow Portland’s example

I would love to give him an accessory that would complement his character, charisma, and plain ole appreciation for hand crafted American made goods!

  87. Zack says:

    Sony RX100

  88. Annelies says:

  98. Megan says:

My 1979 Canon has been going strapless for as long as I’ve had her. A touch of brown leather would be a wonderful treat.

  100. Hannah says:

I’d love a strap for my Fuji X100.

  101. Adam says:

The camera that I think deserves this strap is my Canon FTb 35mm. It was given to me by my dad who found it when he was in his early twenties while hiking in the woods near New Hampshire. It was dirty and abandoned lying near a stump, but he cleaned it up and continued to use it. After sitting for many years, I found it and and was told of its story! I took the whole thing apart, cleaned it, and it continues to travel around capturing images. It deserves to have a beautiful leather strap as a symbol of its commitment to continuing to photograph through the years.

  102. Jerry says:

    My Olympus E-620

  103. Mandy says:

    Love this strap, great style!

Using my Canon EOS enables me to break from the normal stresses of my day and look at life thru a lens with creativity & imagination. You can document a beautiful scene and always look back to evoke the same feeling you did when you first took the shot. Love it.

I’d love to give this to my husband for his Canonet rangefinder. His birthday is in March, this would be perfect timing!

  109. Appie says:

Your nice strap fits perfectly on my Olympus PEN EP1 with 17mm pancake and viewfinder on the hotshoe. Too bad Olympus makes his camera-straps too short, wearing it looks ridiculous. Your strap would finish up my retro camera look! Keep up the nice work and greetings from Holland!

  110. Peter Vidani says:

Would look perfect with my Konica Kexar AF Silver Edition!

  111. Pascal Fierz says:

  119. Laura Pavola says:

Well, I do have a few favorite camera’s, but this strap would be most perfect for the Rolleicord III I got from my grandfather…

  121. Noah says:

My Vintage LEICA M2 Camera with 50/2 Rigit Summicron. Would look awesome with this strap!

  122. Donald says:

My Minolta SRT20. It was the first thing I bought when I got a real job, cost me a good amount then, worth buckleys now. Together we’ve created some good images. I picked it up a couple months ago after a 5 year gap, getting my inspiration back.
One of these straps would do well to replace the nylon item it came with. Would be so much more comfortable while trekking through the valleys.

What a beautiful camera strap, which would look right at home on any camera.

    I have a Nikon D90 that is screaming for a new strap…

This would give me a reason to get out my Pentax K-1000!
Thank you for the give away and good luck everyone!

  129. Lewis Coupland says:

I’d have to choose the Bosley Explorer.

  141. AmandaT says:

Picking up a Canon 5dMarkII shortly, with any luck!

  142. Ben Moore says:

  143. Rosa says:

I would use it on my Minolta Film camera that I rediscovered a few days ago when I realized that I lost all my son’s baby pics because I went digital after his birth. I realize the virtue of film and the classic lines of this strap with the small film camera would be a lovely combination.

  144. Kim says:

Your hand crafted brown strap holding onto to my faithful friend…. classic styled Olymus OMD -EM5. Keep up the rich and inspiring work!

This one, on the other hand, is simply gorgeous. I’d be proud to wear it.

  149. Kimberley says:

I agree with everyone – looks amazing! I’d use it on my Sony NEX-5N… much more handsome than the strap I have now.

  150. Rick Olson says:

This would look rugged on the 1970′s Nikonos underwater camera my Pops passed on to me. It’s durability means it finds it’s way into my pack on most outings, especially the soggy voyages. Great work, Matt.

  151. Mai says:

My minolta would be so excited!!!

  152. Melanie says:

This is so lovely, thanks for the chance! I would attach this bad boy to my baby (aka Cee-Cee Canon)… she is my lil Canon Rebel! I recently followed my dreams & started my own photog business, even with just a Rebel…. it truly isn’t about the gear, but the person behind the camera. Cheesy but true!

  153. Hi Matt,

Beautiful work on the leather, I believe that the strap would look good on any of my cameras, Hasselblad 503sw, or perhaps on the Polaroid SX-70 or my digital workhorse 5dMkII.

  154. David Eunson says:

The strap on my Dad’s old Praktica MTL-3 has been knackered for a while now, but I’m sure this strap would look the business keeping it from falling on my toes (again).

  167. Bahaiyyih says:

I would use it on my husband’s Leica Rangefinder. He has given me use of this gorgeous little piece of craftsmanship to teach a non-photographer (and self – proclaimed klutz) the art. It’s rugged and has been through the trenches – sturdy enough for someone to fall over rocks and trees with in hand, as I have done. Your gorgeous little piece of craftsmanship strap would be the sturdy partner it needs in the rough as I stumble through learning the art of black and white photography.
    Bahaiyyih Pride

Goodness, what a gorgeous strap! The kind of beautiful accoutrement that makes me want to get rid of all of my DSLR equipment, buy a Leica, sell everything, and hit the road…. Alas, until that happens, I would strap it on my Nikon D300 and look forward to our next adventure in the field.

  217. Parisa says:

I’d love to win one of these for a great friend who’s currently serving our country in Afghanistan. He’s upgrading to a Fujifilm x100s soon and this strap would look GREAT paired along-side it while he’s documenting his deployment in both the icy and sandy dunes out there. I’m also sure he wouldn’t mind having a rugged, durable strap that he could rely on while hopping on and off of a helicopter daily. If you want to get one of these straps to someone who will give it the use it deserves, I am confident in saying that he is your guy.

  237. May says:

  238. Ethan says:

This strap would look amazing on my father’s Nikon F (now mine) or my F2A or F3.

But this strap would WORK best on my ancient Minolta SRT-201. It’s my under appreciated bad weather, back country, dust covered workhorse.

  239. William says:

Great looking strap! That would be bad-ass on my late 1960′s Yashica Mat-124 G TLR, looking down through the top of the camera on a regular basis on trips and wandering my neighborhood, having a good strap makes all the difference as my TLR hangs there. Thanks Matt!

  240. Will says:

Love these camera straps! I’m 17 and got into photography 4 years ago. I’ve since then shot 5 weddings and countless family and senior portraits! I currently shoot with a Nikon D600 and wouldn’t trade it for the world!

  245. Jay Wintonyk says:

  246. Byron D says:

Man would that look sweet on my Fuji S100. Saved all my pennies for the camera. Was hoping for a strap for a present, but no dice. Maybe I’ll get lucky with this beauty. Cheers and thanks for the consideration.

  247. Austin P. says:

First of all I wanted to state that I love your work that you do. I especially like the small tripod style chair.

Beautiful and well crafted as always! My Rebel T1i would undoubtedly enjoy this handsome makeover.

  256. Reyi says:

Excellent Work Sir! These straps would look (and as importantly, WORK) on any camera anyone, anywhere ever had. I have a few cams myself, D90/ D300/ Can AE-1/ Holga but this request if for my father in law, who is a world famous photog from Carmel CA. Hes been travelling to the ends of the earth with his entire rig of Canon accoutrements without a bit of leather in the entire batch. Would be a great way to bring warmth to the places he travels. Thanks.

Thanks for all the inspiration all the time! Much appreciated!
My camera is newish, but still great, and Ive got a great new lens that makes me excited to use it all the time. Its a Nikon 5100d, and it could look great with some leather styling.

  260. AJ Pandya says:

I’ve got a Canon G9 which has seen it’s days but would certainly look handsome with this strap!

  261. Ryan says:

I’d happily strap that to my 1965 Leica M3, which currently has the classic 35mm 2.8 Summaron. They’d go so well together…both classics!!

  262. Percy says:

Damn! Can picture a dreamy little saunter with my Canon EE17 half frame swinging off that leather… Boom!

  263. Jasmijn says:

Would love to strap this to my dad’s Olympus OM-1, which I use, since he doesn’t anymore.

  264. Kate Bartho says:

I’ve only recently been introduced to Wood and Faulk and am impatient to explore your handiwork! The camera strap is beautiful and I’d use it with my Nikon D3100.

  265. Sina Vodjdani says:

Black and White film with manual print

Thanks for all your updates! !

  266. Ori says:

If only I could use it to carry around my scanner camera. . .but failing that it would be a swell way to tote around my FED-2 (60′s era Soviet Leica knock-off). Nice-looking strap design!

Using a random number generator, we’ve selected the winners! Numbers 30, 94 and 182. Congrats, I’ll be sending out emails to you shortly!
