This Weekend

weekend_title

As I’m sitting at home, waiting for a load of firewood to arrive, I’m thinking that I need to buy a truck so I don’t have to wait on crap like this. But also, I’m thinking that I had a pretty decent weekend. Maybe I should post something to share with you guys? Should I just keep the blog more project focused? Do you even want to hear this junk? Let me know if I’m amiss. Thanks, and I hope you all had a great weekend too.

1. Found a great chair on Craigslist. Don’t know much about it -appears to be rosewood with a leather sling, and has stamped “Made in Argentina” on the frame, but no other markings. I don’t care if it’s a marked piece or not, but I’m still always curious of pieces’ whereabouts. Looks like it was mimicking some Michel Arnoult style?

2. Cut some belts. My friends Matt and JD are helping out and JD is making a little film about it too. I’m excited to see how it comes out. Also, I need to remind a few of you to get me your measurement and buckle info! I’ll send out an email to you soon.

3. Started a Wood&Faulk facebook page, if anyone is inclined to like it. Not sure what to make of it yet, but at the very least I’ll be updating when I post, as I do on twitter now.

Forgot to add in here that we sat around in 76 degree wood-stove heat and ate tacos and worked on your super, fantastico, secret project too!

Personal posts are fun; especially if they are accompanied by good photography.

Amazing looking chair. Can’t go wrong with ANYTHING made of rosewood. Nice photos man.

  8. CHAIR CHAIR CHAIR. Dude, you got LUCKY. I tried so hard to convince Chandler that she NEEDED it (I really think it’s the same one), but she wasn’t into it. And then I considered buying it and having it shipped. And then I slapped myself and told myself that was a terrible idea (mostly because of the amount of stuff I’m ALREADY shipping from p-town). I’m glad you found it and appreciate it, even if I’m still bitter :-).

Ha! Sorry Dan, I really wasn’t trying to steal, but I was so taken by it, I had to get it. Called before the dealer opened and left a message to HOLD THAT SUCKER!

  9. Sally says:

The chair is great – perfectly aged and I reckon would be a good place to sit and rest a while…

There is a lot of leather here in Argentina. Your blog is great, love the bags and what you do with leather!

Anybody happen to know of a furniture maker around PDX who does/could make a couple affordable leather sling chairs? Or any good source for them? (I have no luck or diligence for craigslist.)

    • MMP says:

I know some amazing furniture makers… but affordable isn’t one of the first adjectives that come to mind!

  17. Lea B says:

Hi! I have that exact chair! My dad purchased it in a modern furniture store in Santa barbara in the 70s. It’s sooo comfortable!! It comes apart too – folding flat (he claims he carried it home on the back of his motorcycle). Let me know if you learn more about it!

Hi there – just thought I’d share that your leather sling chair is the “Roxinho” by Michel Arnoult. I found one in a thrift shop in Chicago last year and did some research on it. Nice score!
